Benefit to public sector and NGOs

Summary: Community REfund will serve as a bridge between the interests of the public sector and the needs of the community. By working at the local level we can organize multiple initiatives and focus them towards achieving policy goals. By bringing together the local governments, local residents, and investors we can ensure a more sustainable tourism development process in Nicaragua. The benefits to the public sector and NGOs are explained in more detail below.

Community REfund works with the public sector and local NGOs in order to organize and coordinate local community initiatives so as to prevent multiple initiatives working disjointedly towards the same goal. Community REfund is focused on supporting and enhancing community projects by identifying synergies of various partners and basing work on previous experience and know-how rather than duplicating efforts.

In addition, Community REfund focuses on issues important to national and local public policy such as support of the national banking system, microenterprise development, leadership development, and promotion of civic engagement and participatory democracy.

By bringing together the public and the private sector Community REfund aims to stimulate the involvement of the population at large. Pictured is an event at which Daniel Ortega, then presidential candidate, addressed the Nicaraguan people and the investor community.

The contribution to economic development in tourism destinations is another important benefit to the public sector. This allows the local residents to enjoy the fruits of the tourism boom and appreciate the direct connection between the economic and social changes in their communities and a higher quality of life.

The positive publicity generated through participation in Community REfund allows government officials and NGOs to build credibility and attract resources to other projects and causes in which they might be involved.
