Art Gallery in San Juan del Sur
Galería del Sur is a unique art gallery and studio. It is a joint project between Tom and Janet Quinn and Fundación A. Jean Brugger. The Quinn family owns the building, Fundación A. Jean Brugger administers the art gallery and studio, and the community benefits from the collective effort. The gallery features the works of local artists and it also uses the proceeds from art sales to offer in-depth workshops to local children and adults six days a week on such subjects including painting, sewing and drawing/animation. The gallery is located just 3 blocks from Piedras y Olas Hotel, in between the central park and the market. It’s a wonderful place to discover one-of-a-kind artwork and a great way to support the community.
Ongoing needs
Ongoing needs: This art gallery and the art classes are maintained through art sales and donations. We hope to keep functioning for a long time, so we can give the people the kind of cultural education they haven’t been able to be in contact with. Our main ongoing needs are funds to cover the classes expenses and the maintenance of the gallery.
Amounts that can make a difference: Art Classes are free for the public; they just have to bring their own materials. The overhead for the classes include the teacher and some supplies from the studio. The total cost for classes is approximately $350 a month.
