San Juan del Sur Public Schoolspicture-1

From new buildings to books and school supplies, local schools (pre-school-high school) throughout San Juan del Sur and its surrounding communities benefit greatly from contributions. Donations can also help pay teachers’ salaries and administrations costs. In partnership with the local Ministry of Education, contributions can be made to a specific school of choice or to the overall needs of the San Juan Public Schools.

In addition, school uniforms are mandatory in Nicaragua schools, but many impoverished families have trouble paying for them. A small donation will provide a Nicaraguan child with a school uniform, made locally by women in the San Juan del Sur community. Donors can also sponsor an entire school.

Ongoing needs

Uniforms, school supplies, funds to improve the schools infrastructure, books, teachers’ salaries, etc. The needs list for these schools is long and necessary. Any kind of donation to cover some of these needs for these children is a way to help them have a better future.

Amounts that can make a difference:

  • $2000 pays for a teacher’s salary for a year
  • $40 supplies a school packet for a local student (each school packet consisted of black shoes, navy pants and/or a skirt, and a white shirt)
