Sponsorships Program for Students and Teachers
Even if there are many deserving students who have worked hard all the way through high school, many of them find that higher education is impossible due to lack of finances. The Fundación A. Jean Brugger works to match sponsors (local and international) with these students in order to pay their tuition, books and transportation costs, usually together with the student’s family.
Teacher sponsorships: In Nicaraguan schools, there are often subjects that are cut from a school’s curriculum because of lack of funds. These include, but are not limited to, computers, sports, and English. For this reason, Fundación A. Jean Brugger has begun the Teacher Sponsorship Program, in which we help to pay the salary of a teacher in order to provide these lessons to schools. Currently we sponsor three teachers who give weekend classes, and we hope that this number will increase.
Sponsors receive information about their student and have the opportunity to correspond with or meet the students whenever possible.
Ongoing needs
The more funds or donations we receive, the more children can be sent to secondary school or higher education, the more teachers can be paid so they can support their families, and at the same time, teach children many important subjects that are being left out of the school programs.
Amounts that can make a difference: Sponsor an individual secondary school student by providing US $30 per month for tuition, or US $75-200 per month for a year for a university student. Around $2000 can pay for a teacher salary for a whole year.
