Veterinary Clinic

Stones & Waves Veterinary Clinic is a non-profit veterinary clinic and developing wildlife center dedicated to providing quality healthcare for domestic and captive wild animals in and around San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. They rely on dedicated donors and organizations to provide them with necessary materials such as medical supplies, funding and resources to fulfill our mission.

The clinic is a component of Fundación A. Jean Brugger and a partner to Piedras y Olas Hotel & Resort.

The veterinary clinic, located within the hotel property, not only provides critical care for area animals and wildlife, but a way for the community to learn more about the importance of caring for and preserving natural resources.

Ongoing needs

The number of animals received by the clinic increases weekly. Many animals in this region are captured (poached) for resale as pets or for the garment industry and some are also utilized as traditional foods. Having said that, some of the clinic’s main ongoing needs are medication, medical equipment, animal food, resources to cover the clinic’s expenses.

They seek to foster an attitude of environmental stewardship and anti-animal cruelty among local youth. As well as discourage the practice of using wild animals as pets. Through educational programs and information dissemination they hope to achieve this as well as raise awareness in and around the community about the need to conserve natural resources.

Furthermore, it is their aim in the near future to promote and assist in the creation and management of protected habitat areas for wildlife. As well as attain the proper facilities to rescue, rehabilitate, and reintroduce wild animals back into their natural habitat.

And finally, it is their goal to provide free spay and neuter services to control the population of unwanted, uncared for and sick animals. All donations are greatly appreciated.
